KDU College Penang recently held an F & B Workshop for the Penang Club restaurant staffs at its in-house Bon Appetite Restaurant. The workshop was conducted to impart new ideas and motivate staff to learn and improve customer service in all its dining outlets at Dolphin Bar, Main Dining, Family Dining and the Patio. Prakash R Jakathesan, KDU's Program Leader of School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts commented that, "It is important to provide good customer service, no matter where you work". He also shared that it is vital to apply the relevant local customs, as this reflects the tradition and the food being served. The staffs were eager to share their ideas and experience too. Indeed it was good rapport that keeps them loyal to their employer as they are happy at work. It is a picture of harmony for 1Malaysia, especially the long-service staffs who have worked for more than 25 years. During a light moment shared between their tea-breaks, Mr Thanyendran, also fondly referred to as Mr Ghana, spoke fluently in Hokkien dialect where as Mr Lim Ah Beng reciprocates back in Tamil. Mr Rahman, who is also the longest-serving staff with 33 years of working experience, adds that the members appreciate very freshly-prepared food, he brings fish from his own catch occasionally. Now we know where to find good food & fine dining... Bon Appetite! KDU College Penan's School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) has won numerous national and international culinary competitions. This winning tradition has brought glory not only to he college but also to Penang. It is a leader in culinary and chef training in the northern region among the colleges. | | Group Photo of Staffs from Penang Club L-R Standing: Prakash, Joe, Rahman, Lim, Gana, Ravindran L-R Sitting: Lim, Noordin | An Array of utensils used in restaurants
